This year, I’m going to Canada for 6 months. Whilst I’m there, I will be
volunteering on a farm in Nova Scotia, cycling coast to coast for charity
(over 6000 km), kayking, hiking, rock
climbing, white water rafting, learning how to build a log cabin, taking a trip
up to Yukon and hopefully meeting some cool people along the way.
The trip came about because I’ve been feeling the need to
escape London. As much as I love
this city, enjoy my job and have great friends here, the mountains are calling
and I can’t bring myself to stay put when there are adventures to be had! The purpose of my Canadian adventure is
two-fold: One, to get a feel for the vast country, its exciting wildlife and
its friendly people. Two, to learn
some new skills. Ultimately, I
want to live off-grid, grow my own food, chop my own firewood and work in environmental
conservation. Hopefully what I
learn in Canada will set me on the right track – I’ve got a lot to learn!
So I’m leaving in 7 weeks. That is both the longest time in the world to wait and also
nowhere near enough time to get everything sorted out… Better get cracking.
